Leaning against one of the numerous, shadow swathed exits of the
Bronze, Angel sent a longing glance up towards the curtained center
stage. Strong, slim fingers drummed impatiently against the doorframe.
The boy would be playing soon, he knew, but it felt like a lifetime. A
presence joined him. "Spike." Angel acknowledged him with a curt nod.
"What are you doing here?" It wasn't really a question.
"Same thing as you Peaches." Spike smirked.
<The boy>. It was unspoken between them but known all the same.
Near-darkness. A single light lit the stage as the Bronze was thrown
into shadow. They were ready to begin. Both Vampires, jolted from their
musings, gave their undivided attention to the being upon the stage.
Boy, muse, angel, human, innocent, man and more. A pure soul touched
and yet untouched by Hellmouth. He had been forced, by the hell within,
to leave all he cared about, made to return by love, only to lose his
world a second time. So much grief should have destroyed him. Perhaps it
was this capacity to accept and love that drew the two Vampires to him,
his strength and his vulnerability. <Oz>. He strummed the opening chords
as Devon began to sing.

//Something in me ringing hollow
Maybe what counted most evaporated
Bleached out by your glare
Empty soul, a residue of shadows
Don't want to feel what I'm feeling
I don't heal, the wounds still bleeding//

Oz peered through the haze, eyes meeting those of two startled
immortals. He smiled slightly, continuing to play.

//'Cause what can't be seen can be fatal
And you'll never know
I'm not all gone, just incomplete

At night the monsters stalk behind my eyes
My reflection taunts me until I break the mirror
And I scream as the shards descend
Knowing I could shatter the same way
Silence multiplies the jeers
The emptiness may never lose the echoes//

His eyes became reflective, taking on a haunted look but never breaking
contact with the two in the shadows.

//'Cause what can't be seen can be fatal
And you'll never know
I'm not all gone, just incomplete.//

Three pairs of eyes, earth brown, ice blue, leaf green, clung to one
another in anguish of what could not be changed.

//Nothing endures within the void
You can't take away my pain
I'm too afraid to end it all
And things will never change

'Cause what can't be seen can be fatal
And you'll never know
I'm not all gone, just incomplete//

Oz broke away hastily, but the others could see his eyes haze over with
tears. <So expressive, his eyes are the windows to his soul>, the
thought murmured through Angel's heart. A brief glance revealed that it
had struck Spike as well. Softly, too low for human ears, they heard Oz
whisper the last line of lyric.

//Maybe I'll never be complete.//
